Requirements

Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in good standing required
Diploma or Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
Current basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate and ACLS required.
Certificate from a recognized community college in post anesthetic recovery room care required.
CMH certified to initiate intravenous lines and administer intravenous medications required.
Minimum two (2) years of current PACU experience required.
Current paediatric experience is required.
Current critical care experience required.
Basic arrhythmia interpretation required.
Ability to care for arterial, CVP and epidural lines required.
Ability to provide care to surgical patients required.
Demonstrate evidence of clinical reasoning, problem solving and expanded clinical leadership.
Ability to work in a self-directed work environment with an interdisciplinary team.
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation. Responsibilities

Provides continuous critical assessment, care, and treatment for post-operative/post-anesthesia patients who are emerging from general anesthesia or from spinal, regional, or local sedation anesthesia.
Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
