About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The nurse will be responsible for maintaining aseptic techniques, managing acute care, coordinating patient needs, and spearheading discharge planning to ensure seamless transitions of care. The position is located in Nashville, TN, at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown facility, within the PACU department, and is a PRN (as needed) position with day shifts.

Requirements

Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
Previous PACU RN experience

Responsibilities

Maintain rigorous aseptic sterile techniques in strict alignment with AORN and ASPAN standards to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and zero-percent infection rates.
Expertly assess physical and psychological patient status, delivering targeted interventions and pain management strategies that improve recovery timelines.
Anticipate complex case-specific needs by synthesizing deep knowledge of pathophysiology and surgical procedures to streamline OR/PACU workflow.
Spearhead multidisciplinary discharge planning, coordinating with families and healthcare teams to ensure seamless transitions of care.
