About The Position

This is a Full Time position for Registered Nurses in the Overflow Unit (4 South) working Days (7am-7pm). The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Director, and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create a care plan for each patient, considering physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The role also involves supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations served in the nursing unit is essential. The RN works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services and clinical care in accordance with the standards of excellence established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire
  • Program Graduate, Nursing (Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma)
  • High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
  • Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
  • Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Incorporates evidence based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence based quality care of patient.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations.
  • Modifies education method to ensure patient/family understanding.
  • Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge specific education to family/caregivers.
  • Evaluates for comprehension and documents.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.
