About The Position

MercyOne Newton Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Outpatient Surgery department. This role is responsible for delivering direct care to pre and post-operative patients using the nursing process, adhering to hospital standards and policies. The nurse will coordinate care with other disciplines and collaborate with patients, families, and physicians. MercyOne Newton Medical Center is part of the MercyOne Network, located in Newton, Iowa. Requirements

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of two years of pre- and post-op surgical care of patients.
Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa.
Must be knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application.
Must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.
Skilled in the post operative care of the infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient groups.
Obtains nursing continuing education units appropriate to clinical assignment.
Maintains BCLS certification at health care provider level.
Possesses ability to function effectively during emergencies, in crises, and while under stress.

Responsibilities

Delivery of direct care of the pre and post-operative patient through the use of the nursing process.
Adherence to the standards of Nursing Care and policies and procedures of the hospital.
Coordination of care with other disciplines.
Collaboration with the patient, family, significant other, and physician on patient behalf.
