This is a full-time, 0.8 FTE position for an Outpatient Oncology Registered Nurse working within the Aurora Cancer Care Grafton Team/Infusion. The role involves providing ongoing patient care using the nursing process, assessing and addressing patient and family educational needs, integrating health promotion and preventive care, and managing symptoms according to the treatment plan. The nurse will assess social determinants of health, coordinate care with appropriate resources, and manage caseloads for patients in the specialty area. Key responsibilities include anticipating and recognizing changes in patient status, prioritizing care, assessing patient response to interventions, updating care plans, and communicating with physicians and other providers. In the infusion center setting, the nurse will administer medications including chemotherapy and biologic therapies, manage central venous access devices, and perform blood product transfusions and therapeutic phlebotomy. The role also includes telephone consultation/triage, maintaining accurate patient records, and assisting with staff orientation and education. The nurse is expected to take ownership of their professional development, advance their clinical skills, and share knowledge to improve care quality. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and understand the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
