At Cottage Hospital, our Medical Surgical Unit provides compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with acute medical conditions, post-surgical needs, orthopedic procedures, rehabilitation, and other inpatient services. As a night shift nurse, you'll collaborate with an experienced interdisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care while building strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice.
  • Ability to deliver safe, compassionate, evidence-based care.
  • Ability to collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Knowledge and clinical judgment necessary to care for patients across the lifespan.
  • Ability to assess patient needs, recognize changes in condition, develop individualized plans of care, educate patients and families, and ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain current clinical competencies through required education and continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Prioritize care for patients with varying levels of acuity while recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient response.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
  • Delegate appropriate responsibilities to LPNs and LNAs while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
  • Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • Utilize critical thinking and sound clinical judgment in emergency and non-emergency situations.
  • Maintain current clinical competencies through required education and continuing professional development.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support a culture of teamwork, safety, and excellence.
