The Registered Nurse Operating Room Circulator (Part-Time) is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, and patient outcome) during the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of the surgical patient. This role requires a minimum of an associate's degree from an accredited school of nursing and two years of operating room circulating experience in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center. The nurse must possess a current Registered Nurse License in IL and current American Heart Assn. BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications. The position involves assessing patients' physiological and psychosocial health status, pain assessment, completing patient history, and communicating pertinent information to ensure continuity of care. Documentation in the patient record must be legible and signed appropriately. The nurse will identify desired patient outcomes, establish nursing diagnoses and mutually acceptable patient/family goals, and formulate and implement nursing care plans tailored to patient/family needs. This role requires the ability to assess and problem-solve, respond to emergencies, and practice within legal and ethical guidelines. Specific skills include demonstrating proper preoperative process, surgical case counting, aseptic technique, efficient turnover time, obtaining blood products, patient identification verification, surgical site identification and marking, and anticipating surgeon's needs. The position is part-time and reports to the Operating Room Manager.
