The Nursing Graduate works under the direct line-of-sight supervision of a Registered Nurse in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in patient care delivery. The role orients to the RN assignment but excludes independent nursing care. Medication administration may be performed under the direction and supervision of the licensed RN. The Nursing Graduate position may be used for up to 12 weeks while employees participate in the Intermountain Nurse Residency program and prepare for, take, and pass the State Boards examination to obtain an RN license. Graduates must be enrolled in and have started coursework in the Nurse Residency program before providing direct patient care, including care supervised by a licensed RN. After 12 weeks, or after a second failure of the State Board exam, the employee may no longer remain in the Nursing Graduate position. They may apply for other open positions for which they qualify; failure to pass boards or obtain another position results in termination.
