The Acute Neuroscience Trauma unit is the primary unit for neurology and neurosurgery patients, providing acute and progressive care. As a Level I Trauma Center and Joint Commission accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center of Excellence, this unit services patients with brain and spinal cord injuries, strokes, seizures, and various movement disorders. Experienced RNs are encouraged to apply to this fast-paced, high acuity unit where they will grow their knowledge in the care of patients with lumbar drains, stable ventilators, tracheostomies, complex wounds, and post-operative care. The unit collaborates with other services to provide safe, patient-centered care and boasts a highly engaged nurse resiliency team and strong teamwork. The Clinical Nurse I role integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet patient and family needs, assisting the healthcare team with illness/injury prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision. This role provides direction and education, beginning to acquire leadership skills at the unit level. It involves delivering and documenting direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan, and safely administering medications while identifying incompatibilities/interactions. The Clinical Nurse II role demonstrates mastery of clinical skills and applies this knowledge to a specific patient population, assisting the healthcare team with illness/injury prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision. This role recognizes changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately, mobilizing resources to meet individualized patient/family needs. It provides direction and education, assuming leadership responsibilities at the unit level. It involves delivering and documenting direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan, and safely administering medications while identifying incompatibilities/interactions. The Clinical Nurse III role demonstrates clinical knowledge at the unit level and applies this knowledge to a specific patient population, assisting the healthcare team with illness/injury prevention, wellness maintenance, and comfort provision. This role anticipates changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately, providing direction and education, and serving as a role model in a clinical setting. It involves delivering and documenting direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan, and safely administering medications while identifying incompatibilities/interactions.
