Registered Nurse - MS/Tele
About The Position
This is a three-month travel contract nursing position on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit in Maryville, Tennessee. The onsite unit provides care for patients with higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post-heart-catheterization diagnoses. It functions as a step-down from the ICU, without ventilator or pressor support. Nurses manage defined drips, including heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation, and provide telemetry monitoring. Floating to other like units may be required based on need. The schedule is nights, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, in three 12-hour shifts, with weekend coverage required every other weekend; scheduling may change based on unit needs. First-time travelers will be reviewed based on experience.
Requirements
- Active Tennessee (TN) RN License.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale) certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience.
- EPIC electronic health records proficiency.
- Telemetry monitoring skills.
- Experience caring for patients with higher oxygen demands and dialysis patients.
- Drip management skills, including heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation.
- Step-down/intermediate care nursing competency at a non-ICU level, without ventilator or pressor support.
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; visa sponsorship or transfer is not available.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit for patients with higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post-heart-catheterization diagnoses.
- Provide step-down/intermediate care without ventilator or pressor support.
- Manage and monitor heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone drips, and sotalol initiation.
- Provide telemetry monitoring for assigned patients.
- Float to other like units as required based on need.
- Provide weekend coverage every other weekend; scheduling may change based on unit need.
