Registered Nurse, Mom/Baby Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together. The Mom/Baby Department is a 22-bed Maternal/Newborn, couplet care unit that provides breastfeeding education and support. Nurses may float to the 6-bed Level II NICU to assist with feeders and growers. This unit is part of the Texas 10-step program.
Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing required or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required or BSN preferred
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
- On year of Mom/Baby experience strongly preferred
- RN upon hire required
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
- CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days and maintained annually required
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- One year of Mom/Baby experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
