About The Position

Registered Nurse, Mom/Baby at Texas Health Frisco, a 93-bed acute-care hospital in the North DFW area. This role is part of a 22-bed Maternal/Newborn couplet care unit that provides breastfeeding education and support. The nurse may also float to the 6-bed Level II NICU to assist with feeders and growers. The unit is part of the Texas 10-step program. Texas Health Frisco specializes in women's services, outpatient surgery, NICU, and emergency medicine, and has earned Magnet® status, Joint Commission certifications, and is a Baby Friendly designated facility.

Requirements

Diploma in Nursing required or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
RN upon hire required
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days and maintained annually

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
On year of Mom/Baby experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
