About The Position

This is a 13-26 week contract position for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical unit. The role requires the nurse to be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:5-6 and to work 12-hour day shifts. The position accepts both 36 and 48-hour work weeks. RTO is limited to 7 days maximum for Aya Auto Offer. The nurse may be required to float to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients. A weekend requirement of every other weekend is in place. Contract staff will be assigned to and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, potentially reporting to work during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, with preassignment to units as needed. Patient diagnoses include severe injury to bones, joints, and/or soft tissue, traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, pain, neurological trauma/nerve damage, subdural hematoma. Unit systems include Pyxis and EPIC. Unit orientation is 12 hours, with 16 hours of organizational education. Navy scrubs are required. EKG testing must be passed prior to the start date for this specialty.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the last 5 years.
• Accepts 1st time travelers.
• Locals accepted.
• Must be able to take heparin drips.
• Must be able to administer PCA.
• Must be able to provide colostomy care.
• Must be able to provide feeding tube care and management.
• Must be able to administer blood products.
• Must be able to provide central line care/management.
• Must be able to provide peripheral line care/management.
• Must be able to perform phlebotomy.
• Must be able to manage PICC lines.
• Must be able to perform IV starts.
• Active RN license required.
• Must be able to manage dysrhythmias.
• Must be able to manage O2 Protocol.
• Must be able to perform non-invasive airway management.
• Must be able to manage isolation precautions/PPE.
• Must be able to care for patients with traumatic brain injury.
• Must be able to care for patients with ortho trauma.
• Must be able to manage surgical drains.
• Must be able to manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac).
• Must be able to administer oxygen via nasal cannula.
• Must be able to perform oral suctioning.
• Must be able to manage tracheostomies.
• Must be able to perform wound care.
• Epic documentation experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
