About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical for an exciting Travel or Local job in New York, NY. This role involves providing direct bedside nursing care to medical and post-operative patients, administering medications, monitoring patient responses, and performing various procedures such as wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertions, and IV therapy. The nurse will also be responsible for telemetry monitoring, patient and family education, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure accurate documentation and effective care coordination.

Requirements

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse License.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical experience in a large acute care hospital or post-acute setting.
  • Most recent Medical/Surgical experience must be within the past year.
  • Strong skills in physical assessment, medication administration, wound care, infection control, IV therapy, post-operative care, patient education, and telemetry monitoring.
  • AHA BLS Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EPIC EMR.
  • AHA ACLS Certification.
  • Experience working in a high-acuity acute care environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
  • Provide direct bedside nursing care to medical and post-operative patients.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, catheter insertions, and IV therapy.
  • Monitor vital signs and report adverse reactions or changes in patient condition.
  • Operate and adjust specialized medical equipment as required.
  • Provide telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and post-discharge care.
  • Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, medical charts, and EMR documentation.
  • Participate in discharge planning and care coordination.
  • Adhere to infection control policies, nursing standards, and hospital protocols.
