About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry for an exciting Travel or Local job in Syracuse, NY. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult Med/Surg and Telemetry patients, monitoring cardiac telemetry rhythms, and responding appropriately to changes in patient condition. The position requires performing and documenting patient assessments, starting IVs, administering medications, and assisting with admissions, discharges, and transfers. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and care teams, maintain accurate documentation in the EPIC EMR system, and educate patients and families. Ensuring compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards is crucial. The role operates in a high-acuity, fast-paced telemetry environment.

Requirements

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse License.
  • Current AHA BLS Certification.
  • Minimum 1.5–2 years of recent acute care experience within the last 2 years.
  • Experience in hospitals of similar size or Level I/II Trauma Centers (required for travelers).
  • Ability to independently start IVs and draw labs.
  • Strong competency in reading and interpreting telemetry.
  • Excellent clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work night shifts in a high-acuity environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Level I or Level II Trauma Hospital experience.
  • Experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records.
  • Prior travel nursing experience.
  • Strong Med/Surg Telemetry or Step-Down Unit experience.
  • Experience handling complex and high-acuity medical patients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Med/Surg and Telemetry patients.
  • Monitor cardiac telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
  • Perform and document patient assessments and ongoing clinical evaluations.
  • Start IVs and obtain blood samples/labs as required.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient transfers.
  • Identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate with physicians, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EPIC EMR system.
  • Educate patients and families regarding care plans and discharge instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and infection control standards.
  • Work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced telemetry environment.
