Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit
About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General 5K Medical Surgical Specialties Unit is hiring for a Travel Registered Nurse! This is a temporary full-time, 14-week assignment for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Medical Surgical Specialties unit. The unit is a 42-bed telemetry-monitored unit specializing in the care of adult surgical patients recovering from Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow surgeries. Patients on this unit may also have comorbidities such as renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure. The unit also includes 6 beds for Epilepsy monitoring and serves as the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit. The average patient stay is 3-4 days.
Requirements
- Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field required
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale
- 2 or more years of recent acute care hospital RN experience
Responsibilities
- Care for patients recovering from surgeries including Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Plastic Surgery, GYN Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Trauma Overflow.
- Monitor patients with renal disease, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure.
- Provide care on a telemetry-monitored unit.
- Care for patients in Epilepsy monitoring beds.
- Care for patients in the Living Kidney Donor Transplant Unit.
