As a Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) on our Inpatient Surgical Unit, you'll care for adult and pediatric patients recovering from a wide variety of surgical procedures, including orthopedic, urological, thoracic, vascular, gynecological, ENT, and general surgery. Working alongside surgeons, physicians, and an experienced interdisciplinary team, you'll provide compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients throughout their recovery and transition home. As an RN, you hold primary accountability for organizing, managing, and delivering comprehensive nursing care to your assigned group of patients within the scope of the New York State Nurse Practice Act. In this role, you will: Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans. Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to promote positive clinical outcomes and seamless transitions of care. Monitor patient conditions, implement appropriate interventions, and adjust care plans based on changing needs and treatment goals. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, self-care, and discharge instructions. Utilize electronic health record systems to document care accurately and maintain compliance with organizational standards. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, communicate effectively with team members, and ensure safe patient handoffs. Delegate and supervise nursing support staff appropriately while maintaining accountability for patient care delivery. Support a culture of safety, teamwork, quality improvement, and professional excellence through active participation in unit and organizational initiatives.
