About The Position

Texas Health Plano is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Medical Surgical Telemetry unit. This is a full-time night position, working 36 hours per week with three 12-hour shifts from 7pm to 7am. The Med/Surg Telemetry unit has 29 beds and cares for medical-surgical patients and those on cardiac telemetry, including post-cath management and cardiac drips. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5, occasionally increasing to 1:6 on night shifts. The unit is noted for high patient satisfaction and employee engagement scores.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma, Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – upon hire – expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
• ACLS -within 90 days required
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 60 days of hire
• 1 Year Experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year of RN experience in Med/surg Tele strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out-of-hospital transfers
