Within the context of a client and family centred model of care, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the person promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Staff Nurse assesses, identifies, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care required to assist patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs using an established framework for nursing practice. They develop, implement, evaluate and revise the plan of care, and incorporate individual and/or group teaching into the care plan and nursing interventions and/or makes referrals to other identified resources. The role involves supporting other nurses and health care professionals by collegially sharing information and demonstrating procedures, and working within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNM Standards and consistent with the mission, vision and values and established protocols of Providence Health Care. The position also involves reviewing patient/resident status, assessing patient/resident problems and needs, providing nursing care according to identified policies and procedures, monitoring patient/resident progress, and documenting information. The nurse will identify and respond to patient/resident and family learning needs, provide direction to other staff, and facilitate effective teamwork.
