About The Position

Sentara Careplex Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology unit. This 16-bed unit specializes in providing exceptional care for Solid Tumor Oncology, Hematology Oncology, and Surgical Oncology patients. The role involves assessing/admitting patients, rounding checks, administering medications, communicating with family members, and overall patient care. The unit offers opportunities for learning and professional growth in Oncology, including services like Chemotherapy/Biotherapy drug administration, Pre/Post-Surgical Care, Hospice and Palliative Care, and Sickle Cell Management. New graduates are welcome and can participate in a 6-month Nurse Residency program designed for those with less than one year of experience. This program combines practical skills, hands-on training, professional development, and mentoring.

Requirements

  • Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire
  • RN-Associate’s Degree, or RN-Bachelor’s Degree, or RN-Diploma, or RN-Master’s Degree
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy drug administration (Certification required after 6-months of hire.)
