About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the Medical Oncology unit. This is a 36-bed medical-surgical & telemetry unit with a subpopulation of oncology, chemotherapy, and end-of-life care. Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree – Nursing (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (Required)

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
  • The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
  • This 10-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas.
  • For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice.
  • Program includes: Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
  • Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines
  • Hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor
  • Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
  • A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses)
