Our 3B nursing unit is a 32 bed medical unit and our 3C nursing unit is a 30 bed medical unit specializing in cardiac, neurology, stroke, dialysis, pulmonary, hospice, and geriatric patients. Our team is comprised of RNs, PCAs, LPN's and unit secretaries who all work in collaborating effectively with other disciplines of the care team. Our Med Surg 2 (Adult Surgical Stepdown) unit is a medical/surgical inpatient unit that focuses on providing care for adults who are either preparing for, or recovering from, a surgical procedure. Our patient population is mostly surgical patients including orthopedic, urology, OBGYN, and general surgery, but we also see medical patients with infections, wounds, and chronic health issues. Our mission is to provide all our patients with safe and quality care. Our goal is to assist the patients in swift recovery and progression towards their baseline health. As a Med Surg Flex nurse, you would float between the units.

Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • 1 year Med Surg experience strongly preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Responsibilities

  • The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.
