RN Registered Nurse Maternal Newborn Full-time nights
About The Position
The Women’s Center at Texas Health Ft. Worth is a MAGNET, and Texas 10-Step facility that has been named “Best Place to Have a Baby” and is a Maternal Level IV designated facility. This full-time night position involves working 36 hours per week, from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, with weekend and holiday requirements. The Maternal/Newborn, Couplet Care Department offers self-scheduling for work/life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team. The unit has 27 beds and averages between 275 to 300 deliveries per month. Nurses in this role utilize skills in breastfeeding education/resources and are responsible for the care of both mother and baby (Couplet Care).
Requirements
- Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR Nursing Diploma required
- RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
- One-year experience as a Registered nurse (RN), or completion of an RN residency program required.
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days is required
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required
- Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- BSN is preferred
- One year or more of Mother/Baby, Couplet Care RN experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
