About The Position

The Women’s Center at Texas Health Ft. Worth, a MAGNET, and Texas 10-Step facility, has been named “Best Place to Have a Baby” and is a Maternal Level IV designated facility. This is a full-time position for nights (6:45 PM-7:15 AM) for 36 hours/week, with weekend and holiday requirements. The Maternal/Newborn, Couplet Care Department is a 27-bed unit that averages between 275 to 300 deliveries per month. This role utilizes skills in breastfeeding education/resources and is responsible for both mom and baby (Couplet Care). The department offers self-scheduling for work/life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team.

Requirements

Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program OR Nursing Diploma required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
One-year experience as a Registered nurse (RN), or completion of an RN residency program required.
BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days is required
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required
Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

BSN is preferred
One year or more of Mother/Baby, Couplet Care RN experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
