This Lead Registered Nurse role encompasses all core responsibilities and performance expectations of a Registered Nurse, in addition to leadership and oversight duties. The position collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) and/or the Regional Director of Nursing to plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions of the clinic. This includes coordinating unit activities, directing and assigning work to nurses and pharmacy technicians, assessing, monitoring, and educating nursing staff on patient care, and instituting emergency procedures as necessary. The role also assures compliance with all job breakdown instructions (JBIs) and regulations for the assigned areas. Key responsibilities include ensuring continuity of patient care, preparing staff schedules, collaborating on new employee orientation and training, completing incident and adverse event reports, coordinating patient education, acting as a resource for policies and procedures, supporting clinical trials, managing pharmacy supply levels, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations. The role also involves maintaining patient and employee confidentiality, potentially working at other AON locations, and performing overtime when required. The Lead RN will attend meetings, function as a Registered Nurse when necessary (including procedures like port flushes, injections, and infusions), support nurse triage, ensure completion of daily variance reports, maintain knowledge of the Nucleus medication dispensing system, and foster a positive work environment. This includes providing daily direction, communication, feedback, and coaching to staff, evaluating processes, establishing work procedures, maintaining favorable working relationships, and interviewing job applicants.
