About The Position

The Center for Women at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a Texas 10-step facility with the “Best Place to Have a Baby” designation. This role is for a Full-Time Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery (L&D) department, working Day Shift (7a-7p), 3/12 hour shifts, totaling 36 hours per week. The unit is equipped with 12 LDR beds, 2 OR suites, 3 private recovery rooms, 6 Antepartum rooms, 4 private OB/ED beds, and 23 Postpartum/Newborn beds. It also features a Level III NICU with 16 private rooms. The unit averages 175-200 deliveries per month and is supported by 24/7 OB Hospitalist and a dedicated 24/7 Anesthesiologist. Texas Health Denton is a 255-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas and Southern Oklahoma, specializing in a wide range of services including Women & Infants Care. It is a Joint Commission-accredited Primary (Level II) Stroke Center and Chest Pain Center, a Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, and a Magnet® designated hospital.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required; BSN preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 Days of hire
  • IFM - Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 12 Months required
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire
  • NRPA-Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 Days of hire
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 90 days of hire
  • 1 Year Experience as a Registered Nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
