About The Position

Join a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit at Saint Francis Health System’s Yale Campus, one of the busiest maternity hospitals in Oklahoma. This unit features 20 Labor & Delivery rooms, 11 OB triage rooms, and 3 surgical suites, handling approximately 350 deliveries per month, with about 40% of those being high-risk pregnancies. It is the second-highest delivery volume hospital in Oklahoma. The Labor & Delivery RN provides comprehensive nursing care for patients throughout labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum recovery. This role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while supporting safe outcomes for both mother and baby. You will collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams to manage routine and high-risk deliveries in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Requirements

  • Current Oklahoma RN License or Compact/Multi-State RN License
  • Ability to work night shift (7 PM – 7 AM)
  • Willingness to commit to a 5-month orientation period for L&D training (for non-L&D candidates)

Nice To Haves

  • Labor & Delivery experience
  • 2+ years of acute care hospital nursing experience (ICU, ER, Med-Surg, Telemetry, PCU, etc.) with strong interest in transitioning into L&D
  • Prior Labor & Delivery, OB, or Women’s Services experience
  • Strong critical thinking and fast-paced clinical decision-making skills
  • Passion for maternal and newborn care

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to laboring patients and high-risk obstetric cases
  • Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery
  • Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
  • Provide postpartum recovery care for mother and newborn
  • Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
  • Document nursing care accurately and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with OB physicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Respond to OB emergencies and rapidly changing patient conditions
  • Support unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
