The primary objective of this position is to provide quality of care. Responsible for the direct and/or indirect care of patients assigned utilizing professional nursing skills and knowledge. The unit contains 8 labor beds, 2 triage rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 2 recovery rooms, with a 1:1-1:2 nurse to patient ratio. As a Registered Nurse, you will assess learning needs, readiness to learn, and identify barriers to learning, incorporating patient education into daily activities based on age, cultural, and spiritual values. You will document admission assessment/reassessment, plan, interventions, and medication use, monitoring effects and outcomes according to policy. Utilizing the information management system to enhance communication, you will document changes in patient condition to all appropriate individuals. You will prioritize work assignments based on changing situations, communicate transfer of patient responsibility and pertinent information at the bedside and during Interprofessional Rounds. Recognizing and integrating patient special needs, you will individualize care and be knowledgeable in abuse recognition and referral. Pain management and supportive care issues will be included in the plan of care. You will adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care and promote and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment. Other duties as assigned.
