This full-time Registered Nurse position is for the Labor and Delivery Department at Scotland Memorial Hospital, working the 3rd shift. The role involves providing direct patient care, ensuring adherence to best practices and accepted standards in nursing, and supervising other personnel as needed. Key responsibilities include patient identification, thorough chart review, reporting changes in patient condition, and ensuring consent forms are accurately signed before procedures. The nurse is also responsible for maintaining proper patient body alignment, preparing all necessary supplies and equipment, caring for specimens and cultures, and completing all required documentation and charges. Post-procedure, the nurse will accompany patients to their care unit and provide a comprehensive report to the receiving nurse. Prior to procedures, the nurse will interview patients to assess their condition and needs, and organize materials specific to the patient and procedure. The role also requires knowledge of human growth and development across the lifespan to provide age-specific care for adolescents, young adults, adults, middle-aged, and geriatric patients. The nurse will perform duties as assigned by surgical services leadership and respond promptly to patient needs and concerns.
