About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse position is for the Labor and Delivery Department at Scotland Memorial Hospital, working the 3rd shift. The role involves providing direct patient care, ensuring adherence to best practices and accepted standards in nursing, and supervising other personnel as needed. Key responsibilities include patient identification, thorough chart review, reporting changes in patient condition, and ensuring consent forms are accurately signed before procedures. The nurse is also responsible for maintaining proper patient body alignment, preparing all necessary supplies and equipment, caring for specimens and cultures, and completing all required documentation and charges. Post-procedure, the nurse will accompany patients to their care unit and provide a comprehensive report to the receiving nurse. Prior to procedures, the nurse will interview patients to assess their condition and needs, and organize materials specific to the patient and procedure. The role also requires knowledge of human growth and development across the lifespan to provide age-specific care for adolescents, young adults, adults, middle-aged, and geriatric patients. The nurse will perform duties as assigned by surgical services leadership and respond promptly to patient needs and concerns. Requirements

  • Graduate Of Accredited Nursing Program
  • Current NC or Multistate RN licensure
  • Current BLS
  • Acls Certification
  • Demonstrates Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal
  • Diplomacy, Tact, And A Positive Approach To Problem Solving Are Required To Be Successful
  • Organizational Skills Are A Must
  • Fosters A Teamwork Environment
  • Must Be Able To Communicate With Patients, Customers, Other Departments, And Staff In An Articulate And Professional Manner
  • Computer (Electronic Medical Record) Charting

Responsibilities

  • Stay current with best practice and advancements in edoscopy and gastroenterology nursing
  • Ensures that proper technique and practice are used according to accepted standards
  • Supervises other personnel in the room and directs or assists as necessary
  • Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart and reporting changes in condition
  • Ascertains that consent form is accurate and properly signed prior to procedure
  • Ensures proper body alignment throughout procedure
  • Have all supplies and equipment in room with equipment checks completed before procedure to ensure it is in working condition
  • Cares for specimens and cultures according to policy and procedure
  • Completes documentation and charges
  • Accompanies patient to patient care unit and reports to nurse on patient procedure and special happenings
  • Interviews patient prior to procedure to facilitate knowledge of patient, assesses condition and needs
  • Prepares supplies and organizes materials with respect to special needs of patient and procedure
  • Have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients, including age categories: Adolescence 13 - 17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18 – 64 yrs; Adult/Middle-Aged 65 - 79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs
