About The Position
Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the Family Birthplace department. This role offers a sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 with no commitment or contract required. The position is part of a Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency Program designed for nurses new to the specialty, focusing on orientation and skill acquisition in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP), Antepartum, Mother/Baby, or Nursery. The program includes formal education, hands-on experience with a preceptor, peer networking, and professional development sessions.
Requirements
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Nursing (Required)
- Registered Nurse License (Required)
- 1 year of acute care RN experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities
- Orientation and transition experience for nurses new to Labor & Delivery.
- Intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Labor-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP), Antepartum, Mother/Baby, or Nursery.
- Formal delivery of fundamental Women's Health (WH) nursing concepts and standards via Perinatal Orientation and Education Program (POEP) modules.
- In-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs.
- Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Hands-on experience in WH alongside a trained nurse preceptor.
- Opportunity to share experiences and network with peers.
- Series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses).
