About The Position
This Registered Nurse position is at the Birthplace, focusing on Labor and Delivery. The unit cares for a culturally diverse community, including high-risk pregnancies and fetal diagnoses, and collaborates with the University of Minnesota for clinical learning. The unit is equipped with 14 Labor Rooms, 3 Triage Bays, 3 ORs, and 10 Pregnancy Special Care Rooms. The role emphasizes AWHONN-supported nurse-to-patient ratios and offers various labor support methods and pain management options.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year Labor and Delivery, or Postpartum Experience OR 1 year of Acute Care Experience
- Minnesota RN License
- BLS certification
Nice To Haves
- NRP Certification
- ACLS Certification required within 6 months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert care to low- and high-risk pregnant patients
- Support antepartum and postpartum mothers and families
- Assess and document fetal monitoring
- Advocate for the family’s birth plan and participate in shared decision-making
- Collaborate as an engaged team member in our culture of safety and communication
- Advance your skills—after gaining labor experience, RNs are trained to circulate in the OR
- NRP and ACLS training provided.
