About The Position

Scotland Health Care System is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for their Labor and Delivery department at Scotland Memorial Hospital. This is a full-time position with a night shift schedule (7p-7a). The role involves providing direct patient care, ensuring adherence to best practices, supervising other personnel, and collaborating with surgical services leadership. Requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • Knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients.
  • Ability to care for patients in the following age categories: Adolescence 13 - 17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18 – 64 yrs; Adult/Middle-Aged 65 - 79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs

Responsibilities

  • Stay current with best practice and advancements in endoscopy and gastroenterology nursing.
  • Ensures that proper technique and practice are used according to accepted standards.
  • Supervises other personnel in the room and directs or assists as necessary.
  • Ensures care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart and reporting changes in condition.
  • Ascertains that consent form is accurate and properly signed prior to procedure.
  • Ensures proper body alignment throughout procedure.
  • Have all supplies and equipment in room with equipment checks completed before procedure to ensure it is in working condition.
  • Cares for specimens and cultures according to policy and procedure.
  • Completes documentation and charges.
  • Accompanies patient to patient care unit and reports to nurse on patient procedure and special happenings.
  • Interviews patient prior to procedure to facilitate knowledge of patient, assesses condition and needs.
  • Prepares supplies and organizes materials with respect to special needs of patient and procedure.
  • Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence 13 - 17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18 – 64 yrs; Adult/Middle-Aged 65 - 79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs
