About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking passionate, experienced nurses to join their Labor and Delivery team at Bloomington Hospital. This unit consists of 12 inpatient beds, a 4-bed triage area, 2 Operating Room Suites, and a 3-bed recovery room. The unit provides comprehensive care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients, and their newborns, focusing on evidence-based practices. The team is supported by interdisciplinary members from NICU, Adult ICU/PCU, and respiratory therapy. Nurses on this unit can gain valuable skills and certifications, including OBRNC and EFMRN, and develop expertise in time management, flexibility, and various roles such as circulator, PACU assistant, Neonatal transition RN, Labor RN, and OBED RN. Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care coordinated by L&D RNs to serve the needs of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum patients and their newborns.
  • Function as a circulator.
  • Assist PACU.
  • Serve as a Neonatal transition RN.
  • Serve as a Labor RN.
  • Serve as an OBED RN.
