About The Position

This Registered Nurse position is at the Birthplace, focusing on Labor and Delivery. The Birthplace cares for a culturally diverse community, including families with high-risk pregnancies or fetal diagnoses, and partners with the University of Minnesota for clinical learning. The unit is equipped with 14 Labor Rooms, 3 Triage Bays, 3 ORs, and 10 Pregnancy Special Care Rooms. The unit supports low-intervention birth and offers various pain management options. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient populations, coordinating care with the healthcare team and delegating responsibilities as appropriate, in accordance with policy, professional practice guidelines, and the MN Nurse Practice Act.

Requirements

  • NRP certification
  • Minimum of 1 year Labor and Delivery, or Postpartum Experience current within last year OR 5 years of acute care experience.
  • Minnesota RN License
  • BLS certification

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS Certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert care to low- and high-risk pregnant patients
  • Support antepartum and postpartum mothers and families
  • Assess and document fetal monitoring
  • Advocate for the family’s birth plan and participate in shared decision-making
  • Collaborate as an engaged team member in our culture of safety and communication
  • Advance your skills—after gaining labor experience, RNs are trained to circulate in the OR
  • NRP and ACLS training provided
