About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit. This is a full-time day shift position with rotating weekend responsibilities. The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit specializes in the care of patients with various cardiac conditions, including heart failure, rhythm disturbances, post-coronary interventions, myocardial infarctions, and pre/post-catheterization patients. The unit also manages patients experiencing acute strokes. Sentara offers a unique 6-month Transition to Practice Program for RNs with less than 12 months of experience or those transitioning to a new practice area, which includes general nursing orientation, a specialty clinical track residency, professional development sessions, and mentoring with a unit-based preceptor.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing Program Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • ACLS certification within 1 year of hire (for Critical Care/IMCU).
  • NIH certification within 1 year of hire (for Critical Care/IMCU).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred.
  • New Grad RNs are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Uphold the standards of professional performance, including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards required by specific clinical areas.
