About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit. This is a full-time night shift position with rotating weekend responsibilities. The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit specializes in the care of patients with various cardiac conditions, including heart failure, rhythm disturbances, post-coronary interventions, and myocardial infarctions. The unit also manages pre- and post-catheterization patients and those experiencing acute stroke. Sentara offers a unique 6-month Transition to Practice Program for RNs with less than 12 months of experience or those transitioning to a new practice area, which includes general nursing orientation, a specialty clinical track residency, professional development sessions, and mentoring with a unit-based preceptor. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, encompassing assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards include ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet the standards required by specific clinical areas.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing Program Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution.
  • BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.
  • NIH within 1 year of hire.
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred.
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred.
  • New Grad RNs welcome.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
