The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. They support professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, adhering to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating nursing care for assigned patients. The role involves leadership through preceptor activities, informal/formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care based on skill, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential. Participation in committees or projects may be required. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle for job responsibilities. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, and holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome. It is not eligible for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
