About The Position

The organization offers continuing education and advancement opportunities for career growth. This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Inpatient Float Pool, working nights. The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. They support professional nursing practice across various settings and the continuum of care. The RN functions within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, adhering to the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating nursing care for assigned patients. The role involves leadership through preceptor activities, informal/formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care based on skill, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential. Participation in committees or projects may be required. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle for job responsibilities. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, and holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome. It is not eligible for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and completion of VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program.
  • Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
  • Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Provide leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability and availability of resources.
  • Possess excellent communication skills; be skillful in mentoring and teaching.
  • May participate on committees or projects.
  • A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.
