Performs the primary functions of a registered nurse in assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all assigned patients. This role focuses on Oncology Infusion and involves supporting patient care, collaborating with interprofessional team members, and managing patient/family needs. The nurse will individualize and implement care plans, assess educational needs regarding vascular access, and perform intravenous insertion and assessment for peripheral and central line access. Utilization of equipment such as point of care ultrasound and infusion pumps is expected. The role requires proper interpretation of department-specific policies and laboratory results for safe patient management, monitoring and recording patient care, and communicating patient conditions. The Electronic Health Record (EHR) will be used to access treatment and therapy plans. Nursing practice will be based on evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met. The nurse must work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
