About The Position

The Registered Nurse II, under general supervision, provides patient care, evaluations, and treatment. Assists with the day-to-day operations for assigned area in clinic. Supervises assigned staff. This document represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed by the State of Texas as a Registered Nurse.
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • State of Texas Licensed RN and CPR certified.
  • Knowledge of Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of Standard nursing procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
  • Position requires a flexible schedule to work evenings and/or weekend hours when necessary (i.e., during University events).
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.
  • This is a security-sensitive position.
  • The individual in this position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPPA regulations.
  • The individual is required to handle PHI in accordance with A&M System policy and is further required to complete HIPPA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after the individual’s employment, and on an as-needed basis thereafter.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, patient evaluations, and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards.
  • Uses the health care team approach to provide triage of patients, physical assessments, and treatments, including the administration of medication and therapy as directed.
  • Maintains and monitors patient records, assesses health care needs, and provides patient education.
  • Assesses, coordinates and assists with the day-to-day operations for assigned area in clinic.
  • Evaluates potential risks to patients and staff and initiates resolution through effective education and change process.
  • Supervises assigned staff and analyzes workload and skill requirements to meet patient care needs.
  • Serves as unit/department resource person for the clinic regarding policy, procedure, and standards.
  • Provides preventative education programs to students, such as residence life programs and student organization programs.
  • Maintains inventory and requisition of medical supplies, medications, and equipment.
  • Administer immunizations and PPD tests to students under standing orders of physician.
  • Perform CLIA-waived lab tests.
  • Responsible for assisting with COVID-19 pandemic provider responsibilities including administration of COVID-19 vaccines, administration and interpretation of COVID-19 tests as well as clinical coordination and management of COVID-19 testing site and shipping of COVID-19 testing kits as per A&M System policy.
