Requirements

  • BSN required.
  • Current/Valid Nursing professional license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification and ACLS Required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care and make informed clinical judgments for all patient populations.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans following NEBH standards, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Maintain strict adherence to patient identification, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Assess, administer, and monitor patient responses to medications and therapies; intervene as appropriate.
  • Manage pain assessment, treatment, and documentation.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge patients efficiently and accurately.
  • Document care thoroughly and timely in accordance with NEBH and departmental policies.
  • Order, obtain, and accurately label specimens following patient identification protocols.
  • Coordinate with ancillary departments to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Act as a patient advocate; communicate effectively with the care team and families.
  • Uphold NEBH Clinical Nursing I & II competencies.
  • Follow infection control standards: hand hygiene, isolation precautions, sterile technique, and safe biohazard handling.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper disposal of materials.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency or crisis situations promptly.
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards (JCAHO, OSHA, Fire Code, etc.).
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, and mandatory education.
  • Participate in ongoing clinical education and skills development.
  • Engage in unit‑based quality and patient‑safety initiatives.
  • Collaborate with peers to promote a professional, supportive work environment.
  • Share knowledge with colleagues, students, and novice staff in a collegial manner.
