The Registered Nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of assigned patients and supervises assigned personnel. The role requires knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to nursing care delivery, as well as interpretive, interactive, consultative, management, and supervisory skills. The ability to retrieve, communicate, and present information in written, auditory, or visual form is essential. Spoken communication is the primary method of exchanging ideas; written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are also required. An associate degree in nursing and one year of nursing or patient-care experience in an acute-care setting are required. A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred. The nurse must hold a Virginia Registered Nurse license or compact-state nursing license and BLS certification. ICU nurses are required to maintain ACLS certification; nurses new to the practice area or new graduates have one year to complete specialty certification requirements. Current ACLS or PALS certification satisfies the BLS skills requirement under policy. VHC Health offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, subject to eligibility requirements, along with wellness and retirement benefits. Compensation is determined by factors including qualifications, training and experience, skill level, applicable shift differentials, internal equity, and market conditions.
