About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Texas Health HEB will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This 18-bed unit specializes in Trauma, Neurosurgical, and Cardiovascular patient care. The role offers opportunities for professional growth, career development, and training in high-acuity skills such as Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Targeted Temperature Management, Impella, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT). The unit benefits from 24/7 Intensivist coverage and strong nurse/doctor collaboration. The hospital, Texas Health HEB, is a 322-bed acute-care facility serving the DFW mid-cities, with a broad range of specialties and ANCC Magnet® designation.

Requirements

Associate Degree or Nursing Diploma in Nursing required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire required
CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
ACLS – within 90 days required
NIHSS – within 60 days of hire
CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
1 Year of experience as a clinical nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

BSN preferred
Current ICU experience strongly preferred
National Certification Preparation and Courses offered, as well as test reimbursement/bonus

Responsibilities

Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
Assesses the patient
Plans the care of the patient
Intervenes as appropriate
Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
