About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the ICU Department at Texas Health Southwest in Fort Worth, TX. The ICU is an 18-bed unit with a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio, handling a high acuity level of care for patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, multisystem organ failure, renal failure, cardiovascular issues, and isolation patients. The department prides itself on high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills. Texas Health is a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center. The role offers self-scheduling for work/life balance, opportunities for educational and career growth, and a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) with an engaged leadership team. The professional nurse is expected to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment, exhibiting understanding of basic human needs and patient affiliations. Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency (required)
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • NIHSS – within 6 months of hire required
  • 1 year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • Current RN experience in ICU setting preferred - will consider PCU experience

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • assesses the patient
  • plans the care of the patient
  • intervenes as appropriate
  • evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
