About The Position

This full-time Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the ICU Department at Texas Health Southwest in Fort Worth, TX. The ICU is an 18-bed unit with a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio, handling high acuity cases including respiratory failure, multisystem organ failure, renal failure, cardiovascular issues, and isolation patients. The department prides itself on high-performing staff with excellent critical thinking skills and offers self-scheduling for work/life balance, educational and career growth opportunities, a robust Unit Based Council (UBC), and an engaged leadership team. Texas Health Southwest is a MAGNET facility and a Level III Trauma Center.

Requirements

• Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
• CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
• Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
• BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
• ACLS – within 90 days of hire
• CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS – within 6 months of hire required
• 1 year experience as a registered nurse or completion of an RN residency program required
• Demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment
• Exhibits understanding of basic human needs
• Demonstrates recognition and understanding of patient’s affiliations

Nice To Haves

• BSN preferred
• Current RN experience in ICU setting preferred - will consider PCU experience

Responsibilities

• Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
• Assesses the patient
• Plans the care of the patient
• Intervenes as appropriate
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
• Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
• Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
• Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
