About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes. This role is for the ART Acute Care & Surgical Acute Care units. The Ashley River Tower (ART) - 6 East is a surgical acute care unit that focuses on developing nurses through education, mentorship, and experience to provide safe, holistic care. It offers an educational, collaborative work environment and is part of a Magnet organization with a nurse residency program for new graduates. The unit works closely with MSICU and rapid response teams using the Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) and cares for patients recovering from various surgical and medical conditions. The Ashley River Tower (ART) - 6 West is a 21-bed acute care unit providing comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses, including general medicine, cardiology, GI surgery, surgical oncology, cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, and hematology/oncology. Nurses on ART 6W are trained in various clinical devices, tools, and techniques to ensure safe, high-quality care, with typical nurse to patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:5. The team thrives in a collaborative, educational environment with physicians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and other ancillary staff, fostering a highly connected, innovative, supportive, and teamwork-rooted culture.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
