About The Position

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes. This role is for new graduates interested in Oncology Units, specifically ART 7E Oncology and ART 7W Bone Marrow Transplant. ART 7 East is a 19-bed unit for adult oncology and medical-surgical patients, managing complex cancer diagnoses, hematologic malignancies, solid organ tumors, high-risk chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and clinical trials. ART 7 West is a specialized 23-bed unit for adult inpatient care of patients receiving cellular therapies (Bone Marrow Transplant, CAR-T, TIL therapy), advanced hematologic treatments, and Malignant Hematology conditions. Both units require nurses to complete the National Cancer Institute Collaborative Systemic Therapies Course within their first year for chemotherapy competency and encourage specialty certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
  • RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

  • Provides close monitoring and personalized care throughout complex treatment journeys.
  • Completes the National Cancer Institute Collaborative Systemic Therapies Course within their first year to achieve chemotherapy competency.
  • Participates in ongoing opportunities for advanced, cancer-specific education.
