About The Position

The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This role requires 0-6 months of related experience and is not available for new graduates. The position may require floating between the Emergency Center Eufaula and Emergency Center Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee. It involves 24 hours per week, typically two 12-hour shifts, and requires working weekends and holidays as per department process. The role involves independent judgment in decision-making, coordinating activities of others without direct supervision, and collaborating with various internal and external customers, including healthcare professionals and staff at the Director level or above.

Requirements

  • Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience.
  • Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • 24 hours per week (2) 12-hour shifts
  • Weekends and Holidays required per department process
  • 6-12 months experience required
  • Emergency Room experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients.
  • Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural and psychosocial factors.
  • Documents steps of the nursing process.
  • Utilizes proper medical terminology.
  • Addresses problems and progress toward goals.
  • Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities as evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports.
