About The Position
This is a full-time night shift position for a Registered Nurse in the Hematology/Oncology unit at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUH). The unit cares for adult patients (18+) being treated for oncologic, hematology, and benign hematology-associated illnesses, and occasionally general medicine overflow. Patients may be admitted for chemotherapy, symptom management, new treatment plans, or subsequent steps in their care. The role involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning, effective communication with the healthcare team, and collaboration in establishing patient goals and evaluating progress. The position also requires furthering professional growth through learning activities as per Board of Nursing standards.
Requirements
- LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
- Relevant Work Experience
- 1 year experience
- Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities
- Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
- Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
- Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
- Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
- Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
