About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse (GN) on the Acute/Cardiac Unit, a full-time role with 12-hour day shifts, working 36 hours per week. The unit provides care to patients with primary cardiac diagnoses and medical patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. The RN will report to the Director and is expected to provide bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care. The unit is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians, with support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses. A $13,000 New Hire Retention Bonus is offered to external applicants who meet minimum requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
  • Superb interpersonal, communication, and collaboration abilities.
  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred.
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.
  • Will take a graduate nurse and train.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and families throughout their stay and in preparation for discharge.
