About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse (GN) in the Acute/Cardiac Unit. The role involves providing bedside care to a diverse and acutely ill patient population with primary cardiac diagnoses and those requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. The unit is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians, with support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses. The RN will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, advocate for patients, maintain accurate records, administer medications, assess patient conditions, and develop and evaluate nursing care plans. Patient and family education is also a key responsibility.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree required (BSN preferred).
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
  • Superb interpersonal, communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Competency in electronic patient management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • At least 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care setting highly preferred.
  • Will take a graduate nurse and train.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered continuum of care.
  • Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of patients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
  • Administer medications to patients, provide education and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
  • Assess, monitor, report and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
  • Design, implement and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
  • Educate patients and family throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
